KENYA 1999
I spent five days in the Masai Mara taking many pictures as reference for future paintings and drawings. I then joined a two-week-long Earthwatch Institute-funded research project, "Kenya's Wild Heritage," which was based at the Elsamere Conservation Center on Lake Naivasha. We studied various aspects of the lake's ecology. I helped with crayfish population counts, the ongoing census of African fish eagles and collected ground beetles in Hell's Gate National Park and at various sites along the lakeshore. It was the trip of a lifetime (or two). I shot 78 rolls of film in 21 days, a new personal best.
